Digital Story 3 Narrative

Nine eleven was a tragedy , killing many in New York City , but it devastated people all over the world . There are still a lot of questions never answered from that terrible day . There are many people never found , but assumed dead . That day of 9/11 , I was in 1st grade . The phone rang to my classroom & instantly , the look changed on my teachers face . From that moment on , multiple other calls were made to my class with news of students getting picked up . This day changed many lives , both young & matured . There were over 2 , ooo people killed when a plane crashed into main attraction buildings called the Twin Towers , known for being two similar sized building standing next to each other & built at the same time . But , not only one plane hit , there was another . This other plane crashed into the parts of the towers that the first plane failed to hit .  Instantly after the crash , smoke filled New York . Everyone couldn't see , couldn't breathe . Debri was falling from the towers , crashing down on everything around . The worst thing though , was the jumpers . Yes , the people who couldn't get out of the building that just decided to jump . People have stated that the only smell that day , was the smell of dead bodies & smoke . There were about 5 hijackers on each plane , each related to Al-Qaeda . Since this day , we celebrate the lives of those whom we've lost on 9/11 . People have created art , movies , & books . Since then , a yellow ribbon represents our respect for those lost & the troops that George W Bush sent to " keep Iraq in check . I believe the day Bush sent the troops , is the day he lost the rest of the people who believed in him & their respect . Specially since claims were made that Bush had warnings , but did not act on it . Did this day bring the US apart or closer together ? I think closer , because we all unite as one to show appreciation for troops , loved ones , & those who aren't with us anymore .

This is a video about how technology has helped or hurt people . So . . . positive & negative effects .

Story Two Narrative

     Many people would disagree with my opinions on technology , but maybe if you know why I feel this way , your thoughts could change . Throughout the years , technology has become more & more a part of people's everyday life . People have become so consumed with technology , that most of my generation doesn't know the meaning of true work . Although people can list many positive reasons technology should be available to the everyday people , I can list a lot of negative as well . One main reason you can say that it is mostly negative could be how many have been harassed , cyber stalked , and cyber bullied online . Not a lot of us know how to have manners apparently . Behind the screen , most think it's easier to say what you want , say how you feel , & act how you wish you could have the guts to in real life . Thinking that nothing you say or do would get back to you from the internet & so on , is a big part of why I am against some technology . If you don't know how to use it , you should not be allowed . Many children have been pursued by older men or women due to online chat rooms as well . Everyone seems to want to pretend they are another age , until they get kidnapped , raped , or killed . Using technology has opened a door to more than the population can handle . Scams have been a big part of technology today as well , because it's so easy to make fake websites , fake businesses & more . Even things like rumors about celebrities have shown up through the internet , which can ruin their careers & even though it may sound dramatic , their lives . A big part of my opinion comes from the car accidents leading to serious injury or death from texting . There are studies that actually show accident rates have gone up . Also , most of the time , it is shown that texting while driving or talking on the phone while driving , could be worse than driving drunk . A small portion of negative thoughts come from the little fact that most people pretend to listen to you while being on the phone , but they don't . On top of that , most people have gotten so use to using social networks such as Facebook , myspace , & Xanga , that they don't have proper social skills in person . Now most people think " hanging out " with their friends , can be considered as talking through networks like these . Even Aim , Yahoo , & Skype have been used to connect to friends too . A couple positives could be how doctors use technology , scientists use technology , & even dentists . Research has benefitted many . Also , relatives who were " long lost " could find each other easier to re - connect . Tracking devices have helped find kids or cars as well . Other than those , technology has not helped in many ways other than to mass produce creating pollution from factories , & to make our lives too simple , yet too complicated at the same time . It's funny how technology could bring a person closer to death , & save someone's life .

Story Summary:
Many people would disagree with my opinion of technology because they are already stuck in the trend . Me , I've had a cell phone for maybe a month or two when I was younger , & I do not see the point , which would be why I don't posses one right now . I don't believe every day people should be allowed to use most technology , due to the fact that most are not capable of using it correctly . Many people have been harassed , " cyber bullied " , & usually hurt through the internet . There has been times where on social networks , people are made fun of , such as someone who dislikes them , created a myspace or facebook in their name , talking badly about them . Some people also don't know how to use the internet properly because they will expose themselves or others , &/or start rumors , which later on in life , comes back to them since many jobs & colleges do background checks now . Not only have people been hurt emotionally , by texting or talking on the phone while driving , the accident rates have sky rocketed . On top of that , I know plenty of people who pretend they're listening while paying attention to something like texting or the computer . Also , many people have lost social skills because they are so used to saying what they want on the internet , even asking people out or finding a mate , has been done through technology . Since people think using technology to socialize is easier , they don't know exactly how to act in person because they aren't use to it anymore . Most people's idea now of socializing or being with friends is by being in chats , on social websites , texting , or IM . No one seems to know how to go out & do something with their lives anymore because like I say , so many people are already consumed by technology . Examples like the ones I have given , are what makes me believe that technology should only be available to those who know what they're doing , or need it for a good reason . Maybe doctors , those who work in the medical field , & scientists are the ONLY intelligent people in this world , since they know how to use technology for other people's advantages .

The people who use technology daily , for the right or wrong reasons . Which is almost everyone who can be put into one group or another . I can interview different age groups just to get their opinion on how much technology should be used , for what , & what they think about technology hurting people physically & emotionally . I'd also like to know if they've ever purposely hurt someone through technology & if they've been hurt through it too .

I'm thinking a lot of people will ask me why I despise technology so much , & what technology do I use / why . Maybe they will want to know how much exactly the accident rates have gone up , or what's the rate of technology used now compared to the past . 
 
 
 
 
 
Why will this story be interesting to others?

This story might be interesting to others because I am one of the only people who has this opinion . On top of that , everyone should be pretty familiar to this subject & understand what I'm talking about . For all I know , I could change someone's opinion & maybe they'd want to give me a chance to do that . But , I doubt it .

It's easy for any videos/power points to relate to this subject due to the mention of technology & being literate . To be technologically intelligent , you need to know how to create , & hot to have control over what you're doing . Obviously , by creating something on the computer , shows you know what you're doing .

People use it too much for entertainment . I don't think technology if needed for ordinary people . I believe on people who are using technology for useful reasons such as medical practice or scientific work should be allowed to use it . As kids are now growing up with technology as a daily aspect , they are losing some social skills by going on the computer or texting as a way of interaction . Texting & cell phones in general have caused accident rates to go up . People have been " cyber bullied " & sexually harassed on the internet as well . On top of that " social networks " such as facebook , myspace , or vampirefreaks , have consumed people's time & have had people socialize from behind a screen .

 

 

 

 

4)Why do you feel this story is important to tell?

 I believe this story is important to tell so that maybe some people could see that technology isn't always a positive subject , in many ways it could be harmful . I think that only people who know how to handle technology should be allowed to use it .

 

 

 

5) What are some challenges of telling this story? (hard to find information, personal, etc)

 The main challenges of telling this story are : I am required to use technology to show my work , & that there are a lot of different points to look at ( many pro's & con's . )

This project can relate to Literate Skills Of The 21st Century & Effective Users Of Technology .

Graduate Portfolio / Video Reflection .

There are many subjects from the graduate portfolio essay that can connect to our digital story - telling video . One subject is being Academically Prepared . Being Academically Prepared includes having a life - long desire to learn & strive which can connect to what our goals in life may be & was present in the video . Another subject that I can connect to is being Culturally Aware only because I mentioned the Iraq War , Korean War , & my goal to one day visit Paris . The Iraq War would go with Aware of World Events & Global Dynamics . It just shows I know important issues going on today . Being Literate For The 21st Century also connects because we are learning about technology & by knowing technology we know one of the main ways to communicate . This video helps us learn how to make presentations for the future as well . Lastly , this obviously relates to Effective Users of technology for reasons I don't have to mention but will . By doing this video , we learn how to use technology properly & more effectively .

Large in size , we get together at my grandparents every holiday . A story is how my grandfather was in war & for adding flavor to food , they would put ketchup on everything . When he came back from war , he put ketchup on all my grandma’s food & she was offended thinking she had gross food , but it was just that he was used to it .

I want to become a veterinarian & get married young . I want kids & hopefully a nice house . After high school , I want to visit all the states .

    My name is Angelia Lewis . I live in an urban environment with buildings & not much of the country feel . When I'm older , want to live in a rural environment with more landscaping than just catskills & plains which we have now . I am a 15 year old & I go into the bathroom with a sign of a person in a dress , yes , I am female . I consider myself agnostic , I do not appose religions . Agnostic means I'm just saying that I don't know anything for sure , I don't know if anyone does . Although , I was baptized , I don't think of myself as Catholic . I am in a middle class family . We struggle sometimes & we're not able to always get what we want or need , but we get by . I enjoy writing , drawing , & singing . I have since I was younger because it helped me get away from anything . When I have problems , I resort to my hobbies . I was in chorus & performing arts since I was in 1st grade until I got to CSIHSIS . I like music , which is another way for me to escape from reality . I like art , books , & poetry as well . My favorite poets are Shel Silverstein & Edgar Allan Poe . I don't like sports because I was never good at them & I felt uncomfortable when I would play . I also dislike technology because it's taking over everyone's lives & changing the way things used to be , which I liked . As of right now , I haven't volunteered . I hope to help at an animal shelter or Veterinarian's office during the summer . Some issues I think need to be dealt with better are global warming , war , & animal abuse . Everyone needs to learn how to not litter & use less items that pollute the atmosphere & ruin the Ozone Layer . I don't think there's a need for us to be in Iraq anymore , but the president wont bring them home to their families . I also do not believe there is a need for animal abuse , it's just a way to take out anger on someone who's helpless & incapable of hurting you back . They don't deserve it . Even though my mom was adopted , we have a large family . I have my mom's side , my dad's side , & my step - dad's side . We are closest to my mom's side & usually gather around holidays . I also see my cousins Corey & Courtney from my dad's side . We are very close to them too . Most stories in my family come from when I was little , & from my grandfather when he fought in the Korean War . Lastly , my future goals , hopes , & dreams are to get married & have kids young . I want to have a stable career being a veterinarian , & not have to struggle with money like my family does now . I hope to visit all the states on a road trip & someday go to Paris . I would love for my goals to happen , but I also love not knowing what comes with my future . I can only wish for the best .
